A labour agreement has been reached between Rio Tinto Alcan and the labour union at the Alma smelter, paving the way to end the 6-month long labour dispute and resume normal operation. AME expects the Alma smelter to return to full production in the December quarter of 2012 with annual production of 220kt. By year end, the recent industrial action would have reduced aluminium production by 215kt.
