When it rains it pours. It would come as news to few that the global Aluminium industry has spent the last six months in the doldrums. Continued financial strife in Europe has held prices lower for longer and with no resolution in sight, the world’s major aluminium producers have decided to bite the bullet and cut capacity. AME considers these cuts inevitable as with close to half of global capacity operating at a loss at current prices, existing production plans were simply not feasible.
