At the time of writing in late December, the aluminium price looked set to average US$1,668/t or US$76?/lb in 2015. AME has downgraded its priceforecast for 2016 and 2017, despite a relatively resilient demand outlook (all factors considered) and producers slashing production. The market willremain oversupplied and AME forecasts prices to average US$1,543/t (US70?/lb) in the March Quarter of 2016 and US$1,625/t (US74?/lb) for the fullyear. Prices in 2017 are forecast to increase modestly to US$1,650/t (US75?/lb). These price forecasts are downward revisions from our previousforecast of US$1,700/t (US77?/lb) and US$1,800/t (US 82?/lb) in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
