This paper describes a driver's workload when using a car navigation system. We conducted experiments to clarify differences of driver's visual activity and mental workload when using two types of car navigation systems, a voice input type and a hand input type, on an actual road. The results show that the voice input type reduces the total glance time, the total number of glances, and the subjective ratings of mental workload.
