The board of secretive Russian oil major Surgutneftegas is recommending that shareholders approve a dividend payout for 2010 of 1.18 rubles (4￠) per preferred share and 50 kopecks per ordinary share at its annual general meeting (AGM) on Jun. 24. The company paid out around 1.05 rubles/share for preferred stock and 45 kopecks per ordinary share in 2009 -its lowest dividend on common stock since 2004 -meaning the proposed distribution for 2010 represents increases of 12% and 11%, respectively. Cash-rich Surgut's net profits under Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) climbed by 12.8% year-on-year in 2010 to 128.39 billion rubles (IOD Apr.1,p8).
