High water levels resulting from continued flooding in southern Louisiana are continuing to slam the area's oil and gas industry, although the damage is likely to mount slowly over coming months as those higher water levels persist. Louisiana's Department of Natural Resources reported Friday that of 592 wells in the flood zone, 167 are now shut-in. The DNR reported that 3,785 barrels of oil and 31.54 million cubic feet of natural gas per day are now shut-in and could be for several weeks. The production capacity of the area affected is 19,278 b/d of oil and 252.6 MMcf/d of gas.
