Canada's newly re-elected Conservative government has postponed a decision on whether to approve a deal between EnCana and PetroChina that would see the Chinese major buy a C$5.4 billion (US$5.6 billion) stake in the Canadian firm's Cutbank Ridge shale gas assets in northeastern British Columbia and northwestern Alberta.
