Irish independent Petrel Resources has struck a deal to acquire a 20% interest in Amira Hydrocarbons Wasit NV, an Iraqi oil firm which holds a 25% carried interest in three politically controversial exploration and production licenses with Iraq's Wasit province, southeast of Baghdad.
