Brussels— The European Commission (EC) has initiated an in-depth review of the proposed merger of Dow Chemical and DuPont (PCN, 25 July 2016, p 2). "The 'Phase II' review is a common next step in the review process for a transaction of this size and scope under EU Merger Regulation," the companies noted, adding that they will work "constructively" with the commission to address their concerns and obtain clearance for the merger, "which we are confident will be achieved."
