Private Indian refiner Essar Oil Tuesday said that the number of retail outlets in various stages of commissioning has gone up from 300 to 600 in the October-December quarter, the third quarter of fiscal year 2014-15 (April-March). Essar has a total 1,400 retail fuel outlets in the country, most of which have been lying idle since India’s short-lived oil price deregulation in 2004-2005. But following last October’s diesel deregulation, Essar has gradually starting commis- sioning them again.
