To address the degradation of soil quality and yield decline of black soil, five treatments with different proportions of microbial and organic fertilizers were developed to investigate their effects on soil fertility and maize yield in black soil. The combined application of the two fertilizers significantly reduced soil bulk density, improved buffer capacity to acid and alkali of the soil, up regulated the content of soil organic matter, increased soil microbial population. The maintenance of soil structure stability was vital for the increase in maize yield. Based on principle component analysis, soil pH, organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium, bacteria, and fungi exhibited a higher load on PC1 with a contribution rate of 72.36%. Soil bulk density and actinomycetes exhibited a higher load on PC2 with a contribution rate of 19.68%. In conclusion, 70% microbial fertilizer + 30% organic fertilizer has proven to be the more scientific fertilization mode for maize in black soil.
