Terahertz Responses of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

摘要

The terahertz responses of the iron oxide nanoparticles were characterized in the frequency range of 0.2 to 2.0 THz using the non-contact typical transmission geometry terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system. The maghemite phase and magnetite phase of the iron oxide nanoparticles are distinguished by the THz-TDS measurement. According to the Mossbauer spectroscopy, as-synthesized magnetite nanoparticles exhibit superparamagnetic behavior. Post annealing significantly increases the particle size and crystallinity of the magnetite nanoparticles. The particle size of the as-synthesized magnetite nanoparticles and post annealed magnetite nanoparticles at 700C are 5 run, and 25 nm, respectively.
