摘要

Ecological risk assessment of the riverbank environment is necessary for biodiversity conservation of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. For ecological risk assessments of the riverbank ecosystem, it is important to use riv-erbank-inhabiting speciesto ensure findings are ecologically relevant. This study tested the feasibility of an avoidance test with Isotomurus cf. qinpuemis, which is prevalent in cobble-dominated riverbanks in Japan, for ecological risk assessment of riverbanks, using copper (Cu) as a model chemical. An avoidance test with Folsomia Candida, which M used in a standardised avoidance test, was also performed to enable comparison of sensitivity and test performance between the two Collembola species. Avoidance tests performed in the present study were valid for both I. cf. qin-puensis and F. Candida. Avoidance increased as Cu concentration, increased for both I. cf. qinpuensis and F. Candida. The10% and 50% effective concentrations (95% confidence intervals) of avoidance were 0.8(0.0-4.4) and 2,821.0 (0.0-10,009.0) mg Cu/kg sand for1.cf. qinpuensis, respectively; they were 0.7 (0.0-1.7) and 101.9 (42.1-161.8) mg Cu/kg sand for F. Candida, respectively. Our results suggest that avoidance testing with I. cf. qinpuensis is feasibleand that the use of an1,cf. qinpuensis test will enhance ecologically relevant risk assessment for riverbank ecosystems. To improve the usability of the I. cf. qinpuensis avoidance test, it is necessary to develop rearing methods and increase our understanding of the ecology of this species.
