The decision of the South Australian Government to build a 350MW gas-fired power station provides a major insight into the state of the National Electricity Market (NEM). Through a combination of state and federal government policies, we have developed a market that is failing to provide the megawatt capacity needed to avoid blackouts at times of peak summer loading.
