摘要

It was in the early hours of 23 March 2020 when a Mayday call from the MV Kaami cargo ship led to the launch of the lifeboat in Portree, Isle of Skye. The vessel had run aground on what is locally known as Eugenie Rock, about six nautical miles north-west of Duntulm. What followed was a project to recover safely and then recycle the ship at the Kishorn port and dry dock, working to European ship recycling and Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) regulations. The project was carried out by Aberdeen-headquartered metal waste recycling and processing business John Lawrie Metals, in partnership with its client, Kishorn Port Limited (KPL).
