A number of copolymers based on 5(6),5 '(6 ')-bis(benzimidazole) oxide, 1,7-dihydrodiimidazo[4.5-b:4'.5'-e]pyridine, and 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone are first synthesized. The features of synthesis, molecular weight, and thermal characteristics of the copolymers are studied. Polymers have good film-forming properties; therefore, proton-conducting membranes are obtained on their basis by doping with phosphoric acid. For optimal membrane swelling in phosphoric acid the regime of thermal "crosslinking" of the initial films is found. The proton conductivity of the membranes sufficient for their use in medium-temperature hydrogen-air fuel cells is measured.
