But its health benefits are Indisputable, and thanks to its many medicinal virtues, it's making a comeback!I have an ancient family photo of my mothe:as a little girl in a summer dress with a huge bow on the top of her head. She stands amid a field of buckwheat blooms. That must have been in the early 1900s—I'm already 84—so there's nobody alive from that era I know who could tell me the extent of buckwheat production at that time in a small town in Central Maine. I've wondered a bit through the years why we no longer see fields of buckwheat growing, and I do occasionally make pancakes from Bob's Red Mill buckwheat pancake mix qt eat a bowl of creamy buckwheat cereal on a winter morning.
