摘要

Patients' claims of drug allergies are frequent but often not confirmed.1 An unsubstantiated drug allergy label on a patients chart can have a significant impact on clinical management. Retrospective studies have revealed that 3% to 6% of admissions to health care institutions are for unpredictable drug reactions, including drug allergies. The consequences of unresolved drug allergy claims for patient care are substantial, including treatment delays, use of suboptimal treatment, longer hospital stays, and greater risks of complications.
