Simon Lloyd reports on the inaugural NDG James Memorial Lecture given by Professor John Mackay, Wood Professor of Forest Science, Oxford.Professor John Mackay delivered the inaugural NDG James Memorial Lecture to a full house at Corpus Christi College, Oxford on 24 October. Professor Mackay is the Wood Professor of Forest Science at Oxford, the first statutory professorship in Oxford's School of Plant Sciences in over 200 years, and the first ever in forestry. Professor Mackay's appointment marks a welcome re-enaaaement with forestry bv the university.
