Global steel suppliers remain under pressureof tough economic situation causing lowdemand from consuming sectors. At the sametime this week billet exporters’ positionshave become more advantageous due toupcoming rise in activity of Asian tradersand re-rollers. The buyers’ switching to lesscautious policy was enabled by furtherincrease in prices for Chinese steel productsand slowdown of decline in import scrapprices ($3-10/t). Besides, demand for Chinesematerial is decreasing at the moment as theproducts attract too much attention ofcustoms authorities, which may hamper thematerial supply. Chinese exporters shipsquare billet declared as boron-added squarebars to avoid paying a 25% export duty.
