German steelmaker Thyssenkrupp plans to close the flat hot-rolling mill at its Bochum plant as part of the company’s Steel Strategy 20-30, the company told Fastmarkets this week. “The hot rolling mill will be permanently closed by 2026 as we are relocating capacities to Duisburg [in Germany], where we are splitting our casting-rolling line into a new continuous casting plant and a new hot-rolling mill. Duisburg will then supply hot-rolled coil for further processing at Bochum,” Thyssenkrupp’s spokesman told Fastmarkets on Tuesday May 10.
