摘要

The previously depressed US economy showed some signs of improvement in 2H2016 and then again in spring, but meanwhile inflation accelerated. The reasons includethe shrinking reserves of unused labour force within the US as well as externalfactors such as China’s stimuli, which pushed up raw materials prices around theglobe. These factors however were temporary and their influence began to fade awayin March and April, while America’s systemic problems are still there, namely nearlystagnant productivity coupled with the already mentioned labour market recoverynearing its end; together this means a slowdown, not acceleration in the economy inthe quarters to come.
