Singapore margins for 92-RON gasoline against Brent hit a seven-year low of minus $1.44/bbl at the end of trading on Dec. 4 due to the supply overhang in the region stemming from rising Chinese exports, reduced import demand from Vietnam following the commissioning of the Nghi Son refinery, and concerns over a global economic slowdown that could soon dent fuel consumption. The Singapore reforming spread, which measures the difference between FOB Singapore 92-RON gasoline and the FOB Singapore naphtha derivative, fell to a near-eight-year low of $6.58/bbl at the end of trading that same day. According to a gasoline trader, "At the moment, gasoline [supply] is flooded in the region."
