Following 2.3% growth in 2017, the global LV market edged lower in 2018, dipping by 0.3% to 92.9 million units, which brought to an end an eight-year upswing in demand. On the basis of data for (mostly) the first ten or 11 months of 2019, we now expect the global LV market to have fallen by a significant 4.2%. In general terms, the deterioration reflects the global economy performing much more weakly than initially forecast-the IMF was expecting 3.7% growth in 2019, but this was lowered to 3% in its latest forecast.
