Following its steep drop profit decline in 2018/19, Mazda has started 2019/20 with an accelerating decline as operating profit tumbled by 79%. It fared better in the second quarter when it achieved a 2.2% operating margin compared with a year-earlier loss when it was hit by flood-related damage to its plants in Japan. Outlook: At the time of releasing its second-quarter results, the company downgraded its full-year forecasts. It now expects a 2% drop in revenue to ￥3,500bn and a 27% fall in operating profit to ￥60bn. Net profit is expected to be 32% lower at ￥43bn.
