摘要

A pilot autonomous ship control system for an unmanned anti-submarine vessel being developed by DARPA, the technology incubator of the US military, recently completed its first self-guided voyage between Gulfport and Pascagoula, Mississippi. The prototype 'logic circuits, developed by US engineering contractor Leidos, were installed on a 42ft work boat that served as a surrogate vessel to test sensor, manoeuvring, and mission functions of the so-called ACTUV vessel. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA's) Anti-Submarine Warfare ContinuousTrail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) programme seeks to develop an unmanned naval vessel that would operate under sparse remote supervisory control and safely follow IMO's collision avoidance rules, commonly referred to as COLREGs.
