Statoil and its partners have started up production at Oseberg Delta 2, an oil and gas field located in the North Sea. The field's recoverable reserves are estimated at 77 million barrels of oil equivalent (mboe), comprising 32mboe oil and 45mboe gas. It has an estimated lifetime of 20 years. The field, which is tied back to the Oseberg Field Centre, has been developed using two subsea templates with capacity for eight wells. "Delta 2 is an important element in extending the lifetime of Oseberg. It provides a good example of how we can make smaller discoveries profitable by using existing infrastructure while it is still available," said Arild Dybvig, Statoil's vice-president for fast-track development projects.
