The following figures represent a range of delivered charges (US dollars/dry mt) currently being quoted for shipments of relatively clean concentrate for delivery periods of up to one year. In November 2007, Sterlite Industries settled 2008 TC/RCs with BHP Billiton at 45 dollars/mt and 0.45 dollar/lb for 260,000 mt/y of copper concentrate in 2008 and 2009. In December, Chinese smelters Tongling Nonferrous Metal Group, Jiangxi Copper, and Daye Nonferrous Metals accepted a TC/RC offer from BHP Billiton of 47.20 dollars/mt and 0.0472 dollar/lb, without price participation. In mid-February 2008, BHP Billiton and Freeport-McMoRan settled 2008 copper treatment charges with Japanese smelters, including Japan's biggest, Pan Pacific Copper, Sumitomo Metal Mining, and Mitsubishi Materials, at 45 dollars/mt and 0.045 dollar/lb, without price participation. Settlements were similar to 2007's mid-year contracts, but 25 percent lower than the 2007 benchmark of 60 dollars/mt smelting and 0.06 dollar/lb refining, with no price participation.
