Sleep-often ignored or taken for granted until we don't get enough of it. Even the best of us are cranky and inattentive when we're running on too little or poor quality sleep. Unfortunately, that is the case for way too many of us, way too often. Results from a National Sleep Foundation (NSF) Sleep in America? poll found that, on average, about 53% of Americans got less than seven hours of sleep on workdays. However, 7 hours of sleep is the minimum amount of sleep recommended by NSF for adults 26 to 64 years of age. Furthermore, in a recent NSF Sleep Health Index? fielding, 37% of Americans reported their sleep quality as "poor" or "only fair".
