摘要

The Protector-class multi-role vessel (MRV) is the result of the New Zealand Government's defence initiative Project Protector, which was launched several years ago. Project Protector called for proposals and tenders to build ships for the initiative,and one of the vessels in Tenix Defence's offerings was the 131-metre MRV. This is the first of the new Protector-class for New Zealand and it is designed to meet all the operational requirements of troop and cargo carriage, helicopter operations and administrative landings, and a secondary role of Exclusive Economic Zone patrol and response. Seven Protector-class vessels are planned, including two offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) and four inshore patrol vessels (IPVs).
