Well known Icelandic FRP boat builder Trefjar Ltd has delivered a fast 12 metre potting and gillnetting boat to well known Irish skipper Kevin McCloskey of Killybegs. Compared with the better known super-trawlers that grace Killybegs' harbour when they return from time-to-time loaded with many hundreds of tons of fish, the 'K-MAR-K' is quite a departure. Nevertheless, she is "state-of-the-art" in that she follows the standard philosophy of Killybegs owners. In being an import, she also follows the Killybegs tradition although the source, in Iceland, is unusual. Fishing Boat World has reviewed boats previously from Trefjar's Cleopatra range of fast fishing boats. This one, though, is rather special. She will obviously operate reasonably closely inshore but she is a versatile boat that has seen a lot packed into her slightly under 12 metre length. Designed for both potting and gillnetting, 'K-MAR-K' is extensively fitted out with electronics for her varied fishing activity.
