摘要

Hate is bright red, a handkerchief red, that I've been taught to ignore- a blindfold, gag, or cuff charring wrists. So, I grab hate, wipe my brow, blow my nose and stuff hate in my jeans pocket to forget. Later, sorting clothes, I see a kerchief corner poking out of a pocket- memory washes over. Seeing red, I pull hate out- take a deep breath, rush to the sink, soap hate up and scrub hate hard under cool water. Cool and crisp with fresh scent-now the bright kerchief ties back a young girl's hair, is a bandage protecting a wound- a jubilant banner tied to a pole.
