MIDLAND, Mich. - Increases in U.S. crude oil and natural gas production in recent years have helped the nation become energy independent, effectively insulating it from the impacts of conflicts abroad, according to retired Maj. Gen. Greg Vadnais, who addressed the Feb. 20 membership meeting of the Michigan Oil and Gas Association at the H Hotel in downtown Midland.
