The average ethylene price has inched $5/t down week on week to $1,055 CFR NEA on 23 December.Upstream naphtha prices also lost $29/t on 20 December mainly due to weak demand and overall uncertainty about crude oil trends at the beginning of 2022.During the 2022 contract negotiations,end-users are bargaining ethylene CFR prices down compared with the 2021 level while producers and sellers are resisting citing squeezed margins.Market players are also concerned about new restrictions imposed to prevent the Omicron variant spread.
