Most government aid for establishing a company is available through regional-development schemes. These are operated by the Northern Netherlands Provinces Alliance (SNN), the East Netherlands Development Agency (Oost NL) and other regional-development offices (see Regional incentives). The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) is the main body for distributing state subsidies for research and development (R&D) as well as other business activities. It focuses on sustainable development, agriculture, innovation and international development. The RVO also works with the chambers of commerce and Dutch Tax Service to operate a dedicated website for business development, providing extensive information and contact points for questions on laws, regulations and subsidies. A version of the portal is available in English. Applications for the RVO's programmes can be filed online via its eLoket platform.
