How has the COVID-19 crisis created a shift in clinical, IT and operational workflows for your customers? The most significant first order impact has come from the shift to remote workers, virtual visits, bed expansions, and COVID-19 analytics. These changes will have a lasting and strategic impact to the healthcare industry. To loosely borrow from a biological theory, healthcare's equilibrium just got punctuated. In a time of dramatic change, organizations that can adapt and transform are best poised to survive and fend off new entrants into the market. Three factors are accelerating the move to digital transformation. First, next year's capital comes from this year's net income and capital will be tight for the next few years. Healthcare CFOs are holding on to cash and rethinking their capital intensive infrastructure. Second, more consumers are demanding digital experiences. My 77-year-old mother who had a stroke in the middle of the pandemic is now ordering groceries online. Third, organizations must become more agile. The response to the pandemic showed how quickly organizations could redeploy ambulatory practices to a virtual visit environment. That type of agility is going to be necessary to execute on the next major shifts in clinical, IT, and operational workflows needed to meet patient expectations.
