摘要

Grasses can be divided into two categories. Seasonal grasses-harvested mainly for their plumes, which offer texture as well as line-include species in the genera Miscanthus, Panicum, Pennisetum, and Setaria. Year-round grasses, prized for the linear quality of their slender green blades, include Xerophyllum tenax (bear grass), liriope (lily or monkey grass) and steel grass. This composition is a mass cascade of dahlias, cymbidiums, anthuriums, mini callas, hanging amaranthus, bupieurum, and grasses,in a rich complementary color harmony of burgundy reds and lime greens. Skillful layering of textures provides exciting tension. The two varieties of grasses used (dark pennisetum and steel grass) give an overlaid, transparent cascading effect with soft,linear definition. The bupieurum and pennisetum were designed in bunches bound with Bindwire, and along with the amaranthus were the first placements in the vase, supporting the insertion of successive stems.
