In late February, Rowan Companies announced it would be changing its legal domicile from the US to the UK. The contractor cited "substantial and growing operations" in international areas as one of the main drivers behind its decision. In addition, Rowan believes benefits to the move include: improving access to customers in the UK, as well as the rest of Europe, and Egypt; improving the general perception of Rowan as an international player; and allowing Rowan to take advantage of a lower effective tax rate.
