According to industrial source, China has totaled 947,300 tonnes of crude stainless steel and 1,250,300 tonnes finished stainless steel last year, increasing up 123,300 tonnes and 184,300 tonnes compared with 2001. Breakdown by producer group, national key stainless producers dedicated crude steel 607,300 tonnes and finished steel 850,300 tonnes, and local stainless players produced crude steel 340,300 tonnes and finished steel 400,000 tonnes. Last year, the imports of stainless finished steel have grown by 765,300 tonnes or 32 percent to 2,378,300 tonnes, largely due to strong domestic demand. While exports have also seen up 14,800 tonnes or 34 percent to 43,600 tonnes, including plate 26,500 tonnes, section & rod 8,700 tonnes and cord 8,400 tonnes.
