摘要

When is a flower not a flower? When, in fact, it's a bract. Botanically speaking, a flower is the reproductive structure of a plant. Yet, quite a few of the botanical structures that we casually refer to as "flowers" aren't really flowers at all; that is, not in the truest sense of the word. They may be colorful and certainly attractive, and most florists handle dozens of them every week as they place them into fresh floral designs. Still, they aren't truly flowers.
