摘要

Spain has well-established political and financial mechanisms in place for foreign investors, as well as a workforce accustomed to multinational practices and younger managers who have adopted a more flexible business culture. Other advantages include ease of access to the EU market, a favourable quality of life, relatively transparent business practices and a functional legal system. Unit labour costs have fallen, and a young and increasingly skilled labour force has restored some of the country's lost competitiveness from the euro-zone crisis. Buoyed by export income, tourism and its high-tech companies, Spain has enjoyed steady macroeconomic growth in recent years. With a policy focus on developing an environment for high-tech companies, innovation and a workforce with technical skills, the country has become an attractive location for foreign direct investment within Europe. Risks include uncertainties surrounding the current coalition government (the first formal coalition since the 1978 constitution established Spain's democratic system), particularly its capacity to pass reforms with support from several regional separatist parties, as well as the terms of future trade and investment agreements with the UK after it leaves the EU.
