Wedding work can be fun and profitable. But what often eats into both is the logistics, especially when you're obliged to set up at ceremonies and receptions taking place miles away in unfamiliar venues. For Dave and Jacque Higham, logistical snags (such as happens when the guy with the key to open the banquet room early forgets to show) are increasingly a moot issue. Why? Because in one out of every four full-service wedding jobs they handled in 2004, the Highams and their crew never stepped foot outside the shop: since 2002, Dave and Jacque--husband-and-wife owners of The Rose Shop in Idaho Falls, Idaho--have made a lucrative practice of renting space in their 15,000-square-foot retail operation to couples looking for a charm-packed, visually gratifying place where they can tie the knot or, afterward, cut the cake and entwine arms to sip champagne from one another's goblets.
