Despite the decline in production and sales at EVRAZ assets in the CIS countries and the EU, the group was able tosignificantly strengthen its financial position in 2018 due to a more favorable price situation.Last year, EVRAZ’s consolidated revenue rose by 10%, while its net profit increased more than threefold. In particular,the steel division increased its revenue by 15% due to higher prices for vanadium and finished steel products, whichoffset the decline in sales. The revenue in the vanadium segment increased by $607 million versus $361 million in thesegment of steel products, Metal Expert learnt. The share of sales to the Russian market grew from 48% to 50% in2018, mainly “due to a shift from sales to Europe and the CIS [by 7% and 9% respectively],” the financial report says.EBITDA of the group increased by 80% due to higher selling prices, lower dollar equivalent costs, as well as ongoingcost reduction programs. However, this was partially offset by rising prices for raw materials and auxiliary materials,including scrap, electrodes and ferroalloys.
