Thanks to successful implementation of car scrappage programme launchedin March 2010, carmakers have approached the pre-crisis productionlevel. In early April, the government decided to keep running the programmeuntil the end of the current year and appropriate additional RUB 5 billion for it. Intotal, about RUB 30 billion will be spent on the programme. As a result of thecontinuous government backing of the industry, the output of passenger cars isexpected to grow by 30-35% y-o-y. Under the programme, AvtoVAZ.s cars aremost demanded (they account for about 80% of total sales). When the programmeis over, the company.s sales will fall by 10-15%.
