During a recent conversation, an agribusiness owner challenged me about why he should engage in the succession planning process. "We own the real estate and it's going up in value every day," he said. "As we get closer to retirement, we'll gradually decrease our inventory and discount the rest in a clearance sale at the very end." He was confident and seemingly not disturbed by some of the issues that puzzle most family business owners.
