As a machinery dealer, your equipment can remove many of the obstacles that block a farmer's best efforts to attain higher yields. A new use for center pivots is just one example of that fact. While center pivots carry much needed moisture to a crop, they also can provide it with valuable nutrients in a process known as fertigation. This past year, Stamp Farms, taking a cue from similar work in the Texas Panhandle, adopted the use of center pivots to spoon-feed nitrogen to some of its corn-on-corn acreage, which spans six counties in southwest Michigan.
