Chrysler has lagged most of the industry in bringing electrified vehicles (EVs) to production, but the 2014 Fiat 500e, officially unveiled Nov. 28 at the 2012 L.A. Auto Show, is a big step toward getting the automaker into the game. Unlike the rest of the growing 500 family that is based on Fiat's global Mini platform, the battery-electric 500e-Chrysler Group's first production EV - was developed by Chief Engineer Brett Giem's American engineering team based at Chrysler's Auburn Hills, MI, tech center.
