Lower cost, lighter weight, more refinement - Chief Engineer Steve Poulos gives a glimpse of GM's third-generation eAssist mild-hybrid system that is under development for 2015. "What's going to erode the potential of any future hybrid system, and not just ours, is the intense focus on bringing the whole vehicle up in efficiency," observed Steve Poulos, during a recent off-site lunch near General Motors' Warren Tech Center. "That's why the cost of hybrid technology has to stay ahead of that.
