An adult male blue Siamese fighting fish (Bettasplendens) presented to the North Carolina StateUniversity College of Veterinary Medicine with a cranialmass located dorsal to his right eye. A fine-needleaspiration was performed followed by supportive care.Due to the patient’s small size aggressive treatmentwas not elected. The mass continued to expandover a course of five months until the patient wasfound deceased, and a postmortem examinationwas performed. Histopathology determined the massto be a chromatophoroma of the iridophoroma orleucophoroma subtypes. This is the first documentation ofa chromatophoroma in B splendens.
