General Motors has announced that its Shanghai GM joint venture will build and distribute the Cadillac XTS luxury sedan in China. The model is scheduled to go on sale across the country in the fourth quarter this year. It made its global debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November and will launch in the US this spring. The news was announced by GM Chairman and Chief Executive Dan Akerson at the Beijing Auto Show. China is the second largest market for GM's Cadillac brand and sales of luxury models in the country have been on the rise, increasing 39% in 2011.
